Since 1975

We don't believe in just conforming to the norm. Since 1975, we’ve been New Zealand’s original footwear boutique, pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo from our beloved Auckland store. Five decades on, that same spirit lives on in our new stores in Tauranga, Wellington and Commercial Bay. Born from a passion for premium footwear, we’ve spent years making sure every step you take is a statement. Whether it’s the perfect pair of boots, sneakers or sandals, our customers receive genuine expert advice and premium service to help them find iconic shoes that match their style and comfort needs.

1975

In 1975, Pat Menzies started a men's shoe store in Canterbury Arcade, Queen Street. Clarks was a key brand then and still is.

1978

Pat saw fashion trends change with a movement towards unisex streetwear brands. Adidas and Nike were first to come onboard

1980s

Pat secured a license to import canvas and bought Converse to NZ. Followed closely by being the first to sell Dr Martens imported from the UK.

1990s

Word spread, making Pat's store the go-to for iconic footwear. He added Birkenstock, Vans,
New Balance and formed a team with good honest values and a genuine passion for service.

2012

Pat stepped back as his daughter Michelle took the reins, launching e-commerce and social media platforms. She worked with Converse to debut their first in-store concept, solidifying Pat Menzies as the go-to Converse spot in Auckland CBD.

2018

Brittain Wynyard, NZ's largest independent footwear distributor, acquired Pat Menzies Shoes. Our values and staff remain unchanged, ensuring expert service and top brands for Kiwis. We proudly retain long-serving staff, preserving their expertise.

2023

Converse re-invest in Pat Menzies and update their store in store. Dr Martens, Birkenstock and Blundstone follow suit and create their own dedicated in-store spaces. Blundstone furthers their investment by partnering with us for their NZ e-commerce site.

2024

New e-commerce site launched. Every detail, from design to function, carefully crafted for smooth user experience, in line with our iconic kiwi brand.

2025

We are celebrating 50 years of history, service and loyalty with Kiwis.
